DUE TO THE OBLIGATIONS DERIVED FROM ROYAL DECREE 463/2020, OF MARCH 14th, WHICH DECLARES THE STATE OF ALARM IN SPAIN FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE HEALTH CRISIS SITUATION CAUSED BY COVID-19, WE INFORM YOU THAT THE CONFERENCE HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO 2021.

Following the successful completion of the LHC Run 2, no signs of BSM effects have yet been detected by the ATLAS and CMS experiments. This suggests that new particles from the BSM sector may lie beyond the current kinematic reach, or be too weakly interacting, to be probed by direct searches so far. While the analysis of the full Run 2 dataset is still ongoing across most of the physics program, and thus there is still room for a surprise, further opportunities for discovery will become available during the LHC Run 3, to start in 2021, and especially during the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) phase. The high precision that will be reached, both experimentally and theoretically, will enable a comprehensive program of measurements of SM processes in the electroweak, top and Higgs sectors, that will greatly complement, and possibly even inform, the direct search program. With higher statistics, new search strategies also open up with lower systematic uncertainties than traditional analyses performed at the LHC Runs 1 and 2.
This workshop will bring together experts from the theoretical and experimental communities working on SM and BSM for a joint brainstorming on the status of this research, identify areas for improvements, as well as set new promising directions to be confronted with the coming LHC data.
The workshop will have four main goals:
- identifying the limiting factors of the experimental analysis and providing reliable theoretical predictions (and related uncertainties) for promising observables to detect BSM effects such as tails of distributions, asymmetries, or ratios;
- devising new analysis strategies utilising the high luminosity that will soon be available;
- comparing LHC results with bounds from non-collider experiments (e.g. EDMs, axion searches,…); and
- developing applications of new theoretical ideas (e.g. positivity, helicity amplitudes,…).
The workshop will take place at the Centro de Ciencias de Benasque Pedro Pascual (http://benasque.org/) located in Benasque (Spain), between April 19 and April 25, 2020. Benasque is a beautiful village with a famous ski resort, located in the heart of the Pyrenees, close to the Spanish border with France. In addition to the auditorium, the Center offers desk space, ubiquitous black boards and several meeting areas. To ensure a productive workshop, attendance will be limited to a maximum of 50 participants. In addition, the meeting agenda will be kept light, leaving plenty of time for informal discussion among participants.
The conference fee will amount to 250 euros and will cover the transfer to/from Barcelona, welcome and farewell receptions and coffee breaks. Participants will have to cover their meals and housing expenses. The latter are expected to range between 30 and 99 euros a night. More details will be given in due time. Some partial support will also be available to encourage the participation of young researchers.
The registration fee for this conference is 250 eur.
