Quantum transport in dilute gases

2011, Jul 04 -- Jul 15

Organizers:
G. Shyapnikov (U. Amsterdam)
F. Sols (U. Complutense Madrid)

This workshop aims at bringing together scientists interested in the emerging field of quantum transport in quantum gases, the ultimate goal being the promotion of research on future atom circuits. The coverage spans both traditional forms of quantum transport as realized in novel cold atom setups and novel transport phenomena that are difficult or impossible to study in condensed matter systems. Topics will include transport in disordered systems, gravitational analogs, classical and quantum ratchets, atom waveguides, and Josephson dynamics.

Following the successful tradition of the Benasque Science Center, few talks will be scheduled to foster informal discussions among participants. In the first week some emphasis will be placed on disordered systems, while the second week will be preferentially devoted to transport in non-disordered structures.
