Fault-Tolerant Quantum Technologies

Organizers:

N. Breuckmann (University of Bristol), A. Quintavalle (Freie Universität Berlin), M. Vasmer (Perimeter Institute), C. Vuillot (Inria Nancy)

The FTQT 2024 workshop will bring together researchers exploring different techniques for tackling noise in quantum computation, following up on the previous 2016 and 2020 editions of FTQT. The workshop's goal is to accelerate the development of new theoretical tools to improve the performance, efficiency and practicality of fault-tolerance protocols. The resulting theoretical work will help developers of quantum technology hardware to overcome challenges posed by decoherence.

Topics of discussion include:

- LDPC codes
- Dynamical codes
- Fault-tolerant logical gates
- Experimental implementations of fault-tolerant protocols

The two-week workshop will have a light talk schedule with a small number of speakers, allowing plenty of time for collaborations and informal discussions. The programme will include invited talks from

- Dolev Bluvstein (Harvard University)
- Ken Brown (Duke University)
- Andrew Doherty (University of Sydney)
- Omar Fawzi (Inria Lyon)
- Steven Girvin (Yale University)
- Anirudh Krishna (Stanford University)
- Zhi Li (Perimeter Institute)
- Shruti Puri (Yale University)
- Narayanan Rengaswamy (University of Arizona)
- Barbara Terhal (TU Delft)
- Andreas Wallraff (ETH Zürich)

The remainder of the talks will be self-organised during the workshop. Each day there will be an opportunity to propose a talk and the participants will be able to vote on which talks they wish to hear. The talks with the most votes will be scheduled for the following day.

To register for the workshop you must fill out the application form and submit a talk abstract (approx. 250 words). The abstract will be evaluated by the organisers in order to confirm that the applicant has sufficient research experience to take part fully in the workshop (but the participants will be free to propose a different talk during the workshop). Registration applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis, but applications without an accompanying abstract will not be considered. If you are comfortable, please indicate whether you belong to an underrepresented group by copying “I belong to an underrepresented group in my field.” below your abstract. This is in order for us to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion.

Abstract submission

Abstract submission should be done through here.

* Abstracts files should be 1 page abstract in .pdf format
* The use of graphics in the abstract is optional.
* A complete editable abstract example and guidelines could be downloaded here.
* You have to be registered before abstract submission
